The Miracle League of Murfreesboro played its season opener April 21 at the new Miracle Field of Murfreesboro located at McKnight Park.
The day of games featured four games pitting eight teams against each other.
Oakland High School's baseball team and cheerleaders were joined by Christiana Middle School's cheerleaders and baseball coach to help start the spring season.
The Miracle Field is a special-needs baseball facility that helps kids simply play ball.
It features a custom-designed, special rubberized baseball field built for children and adults with special needs and accommodates wheelchairs and other assertive devices. A buddy system pairs able-bodied peers with the Miracle League athletes.
In addition to the ball field, the complex includes an inclusive playground that benefits all children with accessible ramps and turf, sensory stations and an easy-to-ride zipline, just to name a few features. There are also covered bleachers and picnic table seating, along with concessions and covered bleachers.
